Quadruped robot
A quadruped robot is a four-legged mobile robot, often called a “robot dog” because of its silhouette. More stable and far cheaper than a biped, it can handle stairs and rough ground, but has neither arms nor a human posture.

At events, the quadruped plays on curiosity: it catches the eye, gets filmed and moves through environments where a biped would not stay upright. Prices observed on the French market are around €200 to €500 excl. VAT per day, a clearly more affordable entry level.
It does not produce the same effect as a humanoid. A robot dog surprises; a human-shaped machine walking towards a visitor creates a moment of another kind, because people compare themselves to it. The choice depends on the effect sought and on the budget, not on a technical hierarchy.
