Battery life (robot)

A robot's battery life is how long it runs on one battery charge. For a bipedal humanoid, it is counted in hours and depends heavily on use: continuous walking consumes far more than a static posture.

An advertised battery life rarely matches a real booking. Two hours of mixed use can become one hour of sustained walking with choreography. That is why serious services reason in terms of effective presence time rather than raw battery life.

The operational answer is the quick battery swap: a few minutes' interruption is enough to start again on a full charge. A supplier who turns up with a single battery cannot last a full day at a trade show, whatever the spec sheet says.

When reading a quote, the useful question is therefore not “what is the battery life?” but “how much effective presence time will the robot provide, and with how many batteries?”.
