Insurance excess and deposit

The excess is the share of a claim that remains payable by the insured party; the deposit is a sum requested as a guarantee for hired equipment. For valuable equipment, both amounts should be known before signing, not discovered when an incident occurs.

A bipedal humanoid robot is an asset whose value runs into tens of thousands of euros once import costs and taxes are included. It is normal for a contract to provide for a guarantee; it is not normal for its amount to appear nowhere before signing.

The two questions to ask: what is the amount of the excess in the event of damage, and in what circumstances can the client be held liable? A service in which the equipment remains under the control of one of the supplier's operators at all times largely answers the second.
