Public liability insurance (RC Pro)

Public liability insurance (responsabilité civile professionnelle, or RC Pro, in France) covers the damage a supplier may cause to third parties in the course of its business. At an event open to the public with a mobile attraction, the supplier's certificate is the document an organiser asks for every time.

In practice, the organiser or exhibitor asks for a valid certificate before granting access to the site. It is a routine administrative document, but without it access is blocked on the day itself: ask for it when signing, not the day before.

What an organiser looks at is the identity of the insured party, the period of validity, the activity covered and the amounts of cover. A serious supplier provides it without having to be asked twice.

A motorised attraction moving among the public also calls for operating measures (a defined area, an operator present, the ability to stop immediately) which are discussed with the venue organiser. The precise requirements depend on the venue and on the event.
