Street marketing
Street marketing is a communication operation carried out in public space, in direct contact with passers-by. It relies on surprise, in a context where people do not expect to encounter a brand.

Public space comes with its own constraints: depending on the set-up and the location, a temporary authorisation to occupy public property may be required, and the public highway remains subject to municipal orders and safety rules. It is a prerequisite, not a formality.
Its effectiveness comes from the rarity of the event. An unexpected attraction in a street makes people stop and reach for their phones to film, which the same attraction installed at a trade show would not: the context accounts for half the effect.
