Brand activation

A brand activation is a time-limited, on-the-ground operation that puts the public in direct, physical contact with a brand. It differs from advertising through lived experience: passers-by do not watch a message, they take part in a scene.

Formats vary (pop-up store, sampling, immersive experience, shopping centre installation) but share the same objective: creating a memory and, increasingly, shareable content. Photos and videos taken by the public are part of the expected deliverable.

This explains the place taken by spectacular attractions. An activation that nobody films has only reached the people present; an activation filmed by fifty passers-by reaches each of their audiences, at zero marginal cost.

The relevant indicator is therefore not just the number of people reached on site, but the volume of content produced by the public: a figure that few attractions manage to generate spontaneously.
